How sourcing works

From an enquiry in your inbox to a part on your deck

Nobody enjoys buying a part they cannot see from a supplier they have never met. This page is the process in full, including the steps where things usually go wrong.

  • Five steps
  • Inspection before dispatch
  • Documents for your port

The process

What happens, in order

1

Enquiry and clarification

You send a part number, drawing or description. We check it against supplier catalogues and drawings. If the engine type, rating or fuel grade is missing, we ask.

2

Supplier matching

We approach the manufacturers and stockists who actually make or hold that part. Where several can supply, we compare specification first and price second.

3

Quotation

You get price, lead time, and a clear statement of whether the part is genuine OEM, an OEM-equivalent from the original manufacturer, or a verified alternative.

4

Pre-shipment inspection

The part is checked against the drawing or the old part, photographed, and the photos are sent to you before dispatch. This is the step that prevents a wrong part arriving at the next port.

5

Export and documents

Invoice, packing list, certificates. FOB, CIF or delivered, shipped from the port nearest the supplier.

What we do not do

We are a sourcing agent, not an authorised distributor. We do not claim OEM warranty on alternative parts, and we will never label an alternative as genuine. If you need a part under the engine maker’s own warranty, tell us at the enquiry stage and we will say whether we can supply it.

Questions during the process are normal

Every quotation states the specification, the lead time and whether the part is OEM or an alternative.
